Ophaline in Solstice

Acrylic on Canvas - 2013

34" x 40"

A nude figure on an antique couch with a framed renaissance landscape overhead. My intention was not to create an intimate connection between the figure and the viewer, but rather connect to the figure's expressed self-reflection, indifferent to her vulnerability. Using cool colors to express melancholy, yet the framed renaissance painting overhead creates depth while hinting that the garden of paradise and sunshine are unreachable by those outside. The painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished black edges. It comes ready to hang.
